AIDNW - The Detention Lottery

AIDNW - THE DETENTION LOTTERY - THE DETENTION LOTTERY is a play by Immigration Lawyers that is being presented in Tacoma as a benefit for AIDNW [AIDNW.ORG]. The date is July 27th at 1:00 pm, with food available at 12:00 for $10 a plate. The location is Peace Lutheran Church at 2106 South Cushman Avenue in Tacoma. Why attend? To gain an understanding of how our country enforces immigration laws, including detention processes and courtroom proceedings. You will receive an immigration attorney’s answers to your specific questions and information that equips you to stand up for immigrant protections and rights. This is a powerful experience that these lawyers have taken from actual court proceedings, and they present it as a fundraiser for groups working with immigrants and refugees. Please attend and encourage others to attend too. Thanks for any help you can be in spreading the word!

Adult Education - Second Sunday Series

Adult Education - Second Sunday Series - The Christian Education Committee invites you to a screening of “The Return of the River”.  This is the story of the removal of dams on the Elwha River for the benefit of the salmon. There seems to be an interest in rivers recently with the showing in Gig Harbor of “Dammed to Extinction” about the Snake River and on PBS “A River’s Last Chance” about the Eel River in Northern California.  The Elwha story is a success story in our own Olympic Peninsula.  Please join us after worship on July 14 in the Fireside Room.

"Dammed to Extinction" - Free Movie!

Free movie with lively discussion - Friday, June 14 – Snacks at 6:00 pm and movie at 6:30 pm at Agnus Dei Lutheran Church located at 10511 Peacock Hill Ave NW, Gig Harbor (Movie run time 1 hour and 14 minutes). Four obsolete dams on the Snake River in the Pacific NW choke off access to thousands of miles of rivers. Removing these dams will save money, salmon and orcas. Will the dams be removed? Our Special guest will be Jim Waddell CE/PE. His work shows breaching the 4 Lower Snake Dams is not only a sound biological choice, but will prevent the waste of millions of taxpayer dollars and loss of economic benefits to the nation and the region.

Meaningful Movies in Gig Harbor presents movies on the 2nd Friday of every month, along with lively community discussion.Donations kindly accepted. For more information:

Food Backpacks 4 Kids 10 Year Celebration and Fundraiser

Bob Wickline and Friends will be playing at FB4K's 10 Year Celebration & Fundraiser at the Inn at Gig Harbor on May 18, 2019. Come enjoy music, appetizers, drinks and more! A silent auction and raffle will help us raise funds to continuing feeding nearly 400 families in our community each week. Our goal is to make sure that hunger doesn't keep any child from learning. Nationwide studies show that a hungry child is a distracted child, unable to learn, and often disruptive in the classroom. We want to make sure that every child arrives at school on Monday morning having had enough to eat all weekend.

Tickets available at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4198080. ($25)

Bill Reetz Memorial and Celebration of Life

A memorial for Bill is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 2:00 PM at FIUCC, with a Celebration of Life following at the Fox Island Yacht Club. Hawaiian shirts are highly encouraged!  Bill had quite the collection of Hawaiian shirts and wore them regularly.
The family appreciates flowers but prefers that donations be made in honor of Bill Reetz to the Great Peninsula Conservancy online at www.greatpeninsula.org, or by mail at 423 Pacific Ave. Suite 401, Bremerton, Washington 98337. The funds will be directed toward the purchase of a portion of Camp Hahobas on the Hood Canal. This area holds many fond memories for the Reetz family and it means the world to them to be able to help preserve a portion of it.
