“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”
— Psalm 100:1
Music is a central part of worship at Fox Island United Church of Christ.
Congregational singing is at the heart, and the following groups contribute to the spiritual experience.
Our music ministry, under the direction of Wayne Lackman, is built upon a cornerstone of music, faith, and community. Choir members embrace the idea that all are welcome with sacred music that is universal in its appeal – crossing musical boundaries with an eclectic blend of chant, traditional hymns, contemporary praise, spirituals, and Gospel music.
Choir membership is open to all. Rehearsals are currently Thursday evenings and before the service on Sundays. The choir participates in nearly every Sunday service from September until June in addition to other special services, such as Christmas Eve and Good Friday during the church year.
In addition, our band typically plays one Sunday a month. We welcome many other soloists and small ensembles to participate in services.
Our Choir
Chime Choir
The Chime Choir is a relatively new addition to our Fox Island music ministry. It was founded by Rosemary Hashimoto in 2022 and is directed by Ramie Leibnitz. The choir is comprised of FIUCC members and friends with a wide range of musical experience. We all continue to learn and grow and welcome both beginners and more experienced players.
The chime choir enjoys performing several times a year for both Sunday services and special occasions.
