PREACHING AT FOX ISLAND UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST
Rev. Dave Brown
Rev. Dave Brown is a pastor, writer, poet and the creator and host of BLUES VESPERS now in its 24th year. Dave retired as pastor of Immanuel Presbyterian Church after a wonderful 13-year ministry. He was ordained as minister of word and sacrament in 1982 after receiving his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary. As well as serving churches in Green Bay, Federal Way and Tacoma, Dave served the National Council of Churches as staff to its committee on Public Education and Literacy (1999-2005). He was one of the authors of his denominations policy statement on public education. While at Immanuel he led five pilgrimages to Iona and co-led four Habitat for Humanity Global Village trips (Guatemala and Columbia).
Currently Dave is a frequent guest preacher and presents programs with Imam Jamal Rahman on Interfaith understanding.
He writes a monthly poetry column (Setting the Inner Compass) for his denomination's national magazine (JUSTICE UNBOUND) and was recently elected to the National Self Development of People Committee of the Presbyterian Church.
Dave is committed to inclusive spirituality and a panentheistic approach to the sacred. Dave enjoys travel with his partner Ann, long walks, good music and books. Watching the Mariners with Ann and a good IPA makes him very happy, as does good conversation and quiet times of meditation. He adores is daughters, likes turtles and is totally at home walking the streets of NYC at midnight after a night in a blues club.
